** PET OF THE WEEK **
Welcome to a new weekly feature, "PET OF THE WEEK", highlighting adoptable animals from Bastrop County Animal Services. Today meet Rosa Lee, 4 month old Black Lab mix.![]()
Sunshine doesn't come from the skies, it comes from the love in a shelter dog's eyes, gazing up to you..... just look in Rosa Lee's eyes. At the young age of 4 months, Rosie (as her foster calls her) was dealt a bit of a tough hand before arriving to the shelter. That hasn't fazed her, she has oodles of love to share with your family. While a bit shy at first, she blossoms QUICKLY. She is loving, protective, snugly, loves a game of fetch, is intelligent and eager to please. Rosie has been in foster with kids, dogs, cats and livestock..... she's the total package!![]()
What does Rosa Lee need? .... A home where her people will have lots of time for her. Rosie is a velcro dog who likes to cuddle while you watch movies, sleep in your bed, play in the water while you garden, chase balls and play with friends of all species. Ideally, her humans will spend tons of time with her and include her in family activities as much as possible. If you think you're the right person(s) for Rosie, please contact Bastrop County Animal Services, 589 Cool Water Dr., Bastrop TX, 512-549-5160.

When this happens, it's usually because the owner only shared it with a small group of people, changed who can see it or it's been deleted.
We have programs to help pet owners get their pets spayed or neutered, but sometimes it's too late for that. This was the case with little Spotty Dotty, who recently came into the shelter close to her due date. Due to concern about her delivery, Bastrop County Animal Shelter Helpers paid for a vet visit to make sure she did not need medical intervention. Shortly thereafter, her 8 pups came into the world.![]()
(PLEASE NOTE - pups are not available for adoption at this time and shelter is not taking applications for them now.)![]()
Puppies are always cute, but they are popping out all over and the shelter is overwhelmed! If you'd like to help dogs like Spotty Dotty and prevent pet overpopulation, your donation to BCAS Helpers can do just that!
If you're interested in following scientific progress in preventing pet overpopulation - check out this report from the Alliance for Contraception in Cats and Dogs. They've got some good cat news to share. static1.squarespace.com/static/60106baf6eaab30c510d352a/t/606e59c919f76c642854ae8b/1617844682175/...

Come on out to the shelter - we are also doing nail trims along with giving away pet supplies to those in need.
